FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup series champion and nominee for the 2014 World Open Water Swimming Man of the Year]]Samuel De Bona, and Poliana Okimoto of Brazil at the 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona]]Allan Lopes Mamédio do Carmo (born 8 March 1989) is a 27-year-old world-class open water swimmer from Bahia, Brazil and one of the fastest professional marathon swimmers in the world.

Open Water Swimming Career

• He is a 2-time Olympic 10K Marathon Swim finalist (2008 Beijing and 2016 Rio)
• He is nearly always finishing near the top of FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup races.
• He is coached by Carlos Rogerio Arapiraca and is a nominee for the 2014 World Open Water Swimming Man of the Year.
• He competed in the 5 km race and the mixed 5 km team pursuit at the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships in Lake Balaton, Hungary.
• In July 2016, he finished 4th in the Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup in Lac St-Jean, Canada.
• He competed in the World University Games 10 km marathon swim in Taipei, Taiwan on 26 August 2016.
• He won the Rei e Rainha do Mar on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on 10 December 2016 together with Ana Marcela Cunha, Poliana Okimoto and Fernando Ponte.
• He finished 4th in the 2018 FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series race in Lac St-Jean, Quebec, Canada on 26 July 2018.
• He competed in the 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships 10 km marathon swim in Chiba, Japan on 14 August 2018.
• On 6 September 2020, he finished 7th overall, 5th man in the 36 km Maratona del Golfo Capri-Napoli in 6 hours 6 minutes 55 seconds.

FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup

He finished first overall in the 2014 FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup professional circuit and third overall in the 2014 FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup professional circuit. He also won the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup race in Chu'an, China on 11 October 2015.

International Marathon Swimming Career

• The Bahai (Brazil) native competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and finished 14th in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim. He also participated in the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China, the FINA 10KM Marathon Swimming World Cup where he was ranked 10th, and the annual King and Queen of the Sea series and the 15 km Travessia Powerade Mar Grande Salvador in Brasil where he finished second in 2012 and first in 2014.
• He won a gold medal in the 4 km team pursuit relay at the 2014 South American Games together with Diogo Andrade Villarinho and Ana Marcela Cunha and in the 10 km marathon swim at the 2014 South American Games in Santiago, Chile.
• He finished second in the 5 km team pursuit in the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia and qualified in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
• He won the 2015 1.5 km New World Harbour Race in Hong Kong.
• He competed in the 10 km and 25 km marathon swims at the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships in Lake Balaton, Hungary
• He finished 2nd overall in the 2016 FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup professional marathon swimming circuit.
• He competed on the 2019 FINA / CNSG Marathon Swim World Series in Seychelles on 12 May 2019.
• He won the 10 km Super Challenge at the Rei e Rainha do Mar from Praia dos Ossos to Manguinhos in Rei de Janeiro, Brazil on 7 November 2020.
• On 20 March 2021, he qualified for the 2021 Olympic 10K Marathon Swim qualification race to be held in Fukuoka, Japan on 30 May 2021 by finishing 2nd in the Brazilian national selection race in Reserva Santa Rita da Lagoa Azul in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
• He competed in the FINA Olympic Marathon Swim Qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Setúbal Bay, Portugal on 20 June 2021 at the age of 31.
