Open Water Swimming Highlights

• He was a participant in the Dead Sea Swim, a 16 km marathon swim organized by South Africa's Madswimmer and the Cyrpus Israel Relay Team held on 15 November 2016.
• He swam 4 seas in the Sea Defenders' Swim for a Clean Mediterranean (6 km in the Red Sea, 6 km in the Dead Sea, 6 km in the Sea of Galilee and 6 km in the Mediterranean Sea) over a 24-hour period in May 2018 with Udi Erell, Oded Rahav, Doron Amosi, Luc Chetboun, Ben Enosh, Ori Sela, Avishag Turek, Yair Palti and Erez Amir.
• He swam in the 3-day Sea of Galilee Perimeter Swim, a 3-day stage swim and perimeter swim of the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret) in Israel together with the Cyprus Israel Swim Team.
  • Day 1 stage swim of 18.15 km in 5 hours 42 minutes 18 seconds from the north Hukuk Beach through Tiberias to Beit Yerach on 22 October 2020.
  • Day 2 stage swim of 15.7 km in 5 hours 15 minutes 53 seconds from Beit Yerach to Ha’On Beach and from there to Lavnun Beach on 23 October 2020.
  • Day 3 stage swim of 13.4 km in 4 hours 16 minutes 42 seconds from Lavnun Beach ack to Hukuk on 24 October 2020.
  • The swimmers and support team included Udi Erell, Doron Amosi, Ben Enosh, Ori Sela, Oded Rahav, Luc Chetboun, Shani Moskuna, Adina Faur, Amnon Salai, Ami Ginsburg, Dror Belkin, Or Kind, Tal Fridman, Tal Snunit, Avishag Turek, Oded Gross, Erez Tzuk, Tzvika, Avi Ruso, Ido Kessler, Avi Ben David, Daniel Kobrinski, Adam Wadell, Ariel Elisar, Shimon Rainish, Moti Ermlin, and Yahly Shafrir.

2020 WOWSA Awards

The Sea of Galilee Perimeter Swim in Israel was nominated for the 2020 WOWSA Awards in the World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year category with the following nomination: The Sea of Galilee Perimeter Swim in Israel was a breakout celebration stage swim by Udi Erell, Doron Amosi, Ben Enosh, Ori Sela, Oded Rahav, Luc Chetboun, Shani Moskuna, Adina Faur, Amnon Salai, Ami Ginsburg, Dror Belkin, Or Kind, Tal Fridman, Tal Snunit, Avishag Turek, Oded Gross, Erez Tzuk, and Tzvika. Held under strict safety protocols in the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 18 Israeli swimmers swam 18.1 km, 15.7 km and 13.4 km respectively during the three-day stage swim. Their tandem swim course was close to the entire shoreline of the Sea of Galilee. The unprecedented 47.2 km cumulative perimeter swim presented logistical difficulties and required a large escort crew, but the tandem swim was successful in completing the three separate courses, swimming 48 km in total. For initiating another environmental awareness and protection program where the theme is to keep the Sea of Galilee clean and safe, for the original vision of Ami Ginsberg to established a new marathon course and offer a celebration of open water swimming in Israel, and for all 18 swimmers who showed selflessness throughout, embodying teamwork and sharing a profound sense of camaraderie throughout their three days at sea, the Sea of Galilee Perimeter Swim by 18 Israeli swimmers is a worthy nominee for the 2020 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year.​​

Dead Sea Swim

The Dead Sea Swim is a charity swim to raise awareness and bring people and cultures together for saving nature by enhancing preservation and protection activities and raising awareness about the degeneration and depletion of the Dead Sea. The course is between Israel and Jordan across the Dead Sea in one of the saltiest open bodies of water on Earth and the lowest place on Earth. The swimmers will wear a special protective mask in a swim nominated for the 2016 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year by the World Open Water Swimming Association.
